For context, I am brand new to the dollhouse building world. I just ordered this kit in 1:48 scale, which will be my first project. I am excited to get started once my kit gets here. I have quite limited free time, so I think this will be a long but fun project for me. I have found that some questions have popped up as I've researched dollhouse building. As with most things, it seems there are varying schools of thought, but any input would be appreciated. I was wondering if those who have worked with these kits used primer at all, and if so what type? I have heard that the sample pots of latex house paint are the way to go for the colors (unsure if I will need to go to a paint store for these), but I haven't seen too much about what primer people use. Also, have people found that painting all of the parts is best before assembly for this kit, or are you painting as you go? If there is anything else you wish you had known when you started out, feel free to post as well. I will try to post photos as I work on the project; I just hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew.

First do a dry fit this is assembling the house without glue, just masking tape. Do not worry on the small items like doors and windows. Once assembled and familiar you can view best way to go with assemble in gluing.
I recommend using the latex paint from and hardware store, most provide sample cans. These are good for painting and have a primer already in the paint. For the Ashley build and paint by level. Paint and complete the base, first floor and so on. this also gives access for doing lighting, trim, wallpaper, ect. When gluing walls to a floor, glue down the walls then place WITHOUT gluing the next floor on top and weight it down, allow glue to set then remove floor and work on interior.
Hope this help. questions? you can always call me from our contact information on our website.
