Hi Folks, Its been a while. We call our Ashley "Muffin Manor". We purchased it just after Leonard got started so its an early version. We constructed, as seen in the pics, about 2 years ago and its been sitting on its table waiting for something to happen. Well we just finished our Duracraft farmhouse and now its Muffins turn. Not sure how quickly things will happen. Because we have jobs and other interests the Farmhouse took 9 years with long breaks in between. We also have RGT Queen Anne on a table next to Muffin so we hope to work on them both. Finish target date for both is end of 2017. All houses have their unique challenges. For us one of the challenges with Muffin will be removing the black laser burn. Maybe anyone who has experience with that can give us some tips. I know Leonard says sanding. Will have to see how that goes. Thinking of leaving out some walls next to the stairs. First step is decide on function of each room, color schemes, moldings, lighting etc. Have not done lighting before. So be patient and we will post more as time goes on. Hey, Leonard - I guess you removed some of your earlier forums and threads. I was looking for earlier posting I did, probably 2012-13.
(Well I guess photos won't work. when I try to post it says our files are too big and we are using a regular digital camera. Not sure how I can make a regular digital camera file smaller the file size of our photos are 3mb). Difficult to keep the progress going without photos.

Found a solution to posting the pics so that is progress. Unpacked the box of precut shingles yesterday. They have been the unopened mailing box for 2 years and look good. Exterior paint colors were chosen 2 years ago so will have to shake up the pots before opening. The trim is a dark cherry red and the main exterior will be Primrose yellow. Shingles will be slate grey.

Hi Apryl,
I'm not answering for Mike because I don't know what paint he is using but I can tell you what I use. I purchase the Behr sample size paints from Home Depot for 1:48 scale and quart size for the 1:12 scale. The sample sizes come in flat and satin finish. I have had really good luck with these paints and the color selection is much better than what is available in craft paints. It takes me a very long time to finish a dollhouse because of my other interests and I only just retired 3 months ago. I have had craft paints dry out on me before I got to use them. I haven't had that problem with the Behr paints yet.

Hi April, I'm using Sherwin Williams sample pots - latex semi gloss. I've been happy with results on my last dollhouse I built. Usually takes two coats. This is my first laser cut dollhouse and I'm having a problem with the black laser burn on the edges. Looks like I will have to sand every surface. The flat edges are not too difficult to get to but not sure about the intricate pieces or the inside edges of the small window panes. I might decide to leave them "as is" and call it dark shadow Three coats of paint seem to get it covered. Has anyone else got comments on solving that problem. Mike

Hi Mike, I left my windows unpainted on the inside and just stained them with a natural stain. Personally, I think the burn areas are part of the charm of the laser dollhouse. For the outside of the windows I used a cream Sherwin Williams latex semi-gloss and only one coat. Teri
