I have started my next Laser Dollhouse kit... the Little Ann. I will be using 2 of these houses together to form a little row house scene.... I don't have much to show yet as I just pulled the kit out of the box this weekend. I am again in awe of the quality of these kits. The dry fit just eased together and I only used a few pieces of tape to hold the pieces together. I love the trim pieces... again I am thrilled with the pre-hung door.... ahhh the feeling of opening up a new kit.... Here is the only picture I have to share so far... the first Little Ann in dry fit. Kelly

Wonderful, huh! This little kit can't be beat and I learned soooo much by making it. What colors have you picked out? I can hardly wait to see the two of them together. Thelma

I have made some progress on the first of the two Little Ann houses that will be my Martha's Vineyard row house display. The colors are super bright... I really love how the pieces just slip together... I literally did no sanding on the wood pieces.... Attachments:

Kelly, I love seeing your builds here and these colors are great. Your Little Anns are going to be so precious! I'm working on one right now and think I'm using a very similar yellow - mine is Folk Art 904 Lemonade. It just seemed like a perfect shade for this house.

The tones and detailing of the front porch and door entrance are incredibly beautiful. Your Martha's Vineyard Row-house display will be truly lovely in such vibrant coloration.

I made some more progress on the first of my Little Anns. The interior is very minimalistic... the outside is so bright I felt the inside needed to be very simple.

On the pink house I altered the roofline (a suggestion from Dalesq). I divided the upstairs into two rooms... cutting a hole in the roof to access the forward room. This gave the upstairs SOOOOO much more usable room. I love the way it came out.

Having just now completing my 3rd of Leonard's houses... there is very little I would change. I think when I build another of his houses (and I defiantly will build another) ... I will do what Karin did and remove the grids on the interior window frames... other than that there is nothing I would change from his designs.
Thanks for such wonderful designs Leonard.

Your houses look very chic, elegant, stylish, so neat, and perfect in every way. My houses seem lived-in, cluttered, and not stylish. I guess that's ok, but sometimes I wish I could see my houses with a different perspective. You have done a fabulous job with the Little Ann. I forgot to mention....I love the colors, so bright and cheery!

Kelly,
Very nicely done, I agree the light colors work well and the detail is awesome. Looking at the house I see that you split the house top floor and created an opening on one roof side, do you recommend this as a change? Would an added door between the devided wall be good? Also the windows, does it make more sense in me leaving out the grids on the interior? Should this be done for each design? I would like feedback as I can accomplish that change as well. Send your thoughts everyone as this is what I am looking for. Feedback that improves the overall design and function to improve things that fit you the customer.

Good morning Leonard, Personally I think removing the window grid on the inside frames makes sense... I'm not sure how others feel. They are great windows... the only reason I think it makes sense is because even if you line the grids up perfectly... when you look the the windows at an angle you still see both grids. Take a peek at Karin's Jasmine Gothic Cottage she posted here... she removed the grids and added a little interior sill... I think they look cool.
As for the modification I made on one of the Anns.... the idea came to me from my friend Debora (Dalesq here on this forum) so she should get the credit for a great idea. The Little Ann top floor is so long and because of the pitch of the roof interior decorating options is minimal.... splitting it like this really gave me so much more room. I had thought about adding a door when I was making the dividing wall... it took up so much of the wall I decided to leave it off. They are great kits Leonard, and really there is not much I would change to the overall design.

Kelly and Debora,
Thank you, I will look at the house and see if adding a door is possible. My overall idea for this house was to be used in place of a room box as I wanted to make something nice that is a single room and inexpensive to be used. It has become a popular house and I see that a Little Ann II may need to come about where there is more rooms and larger areas. Also may provide a house a bit in the same as I have for the Jasmine line. First want to complete the 1:48 Lisa which is where my focus is right now.
Thanks again Leonard

I will have to share pictures of the houses I've kept... they are very cluttered and lived in I love that look, as my real life house is also very lived in. A lot of my pictures are of houses I sell... I don't sell the furniture with them, and so you will often see the same pieces photographed in different houses. These Anns were great fun to build.....
